Why Orlando?
In choosing a location for a national conference, we
inquired of many people for a good location to have the conference.
When we mentioned Orlando, everyone gave us a thumbs up on the location.
Let’s face it, how many people do you know that will drive for
two days to go to a weekend conference and then drive home for two
days? Not many at all.
But our desire was to invite grace believers from all over the country
and so we had to come up with a place that would make it worth their
time, money, and effort.
Orlando, Florida is a vacation destination city. This is by far the
most popular vacation destination in the country. There are many theme
parks and other activities that can done in this area of the country.
There are the Disney parks, Universal Studios, Seaworld, Busch Gardens
in Tampa and just to the east of Orlando there are seaports with cruise
ships.
In our research, I asked a brother from the state of Ohio about the
conference. Kansas is in the middle of the country and would be a
central location for everyone for a national conference. I asked him
if we had it in Kansas would he go or if we had it in Orlando would
he go. He said he would go to Orlando but he would not go to Kansas
and these places are about the same distance from Ohio. He said he
always wanted to go to Orlando but there was nothing to do in Kansas.
So the interest for people to go to Orlando for the conference and
then stay for a few days of vacation and fellowship is really high.
So the vacation destination outweighs the centrally located destination.
Plus, if we are going to have a national conference and invite people
from all over the country we are going to need a fairly large facility
to hold everyone that attends. The facility that we have chosen has
650+ rooms and can accommodate up to 1400+ people for a meeting. This
facility should give us plenty of room to grow in the future.
Another thing that might possibly matter is that having it at a hotel
is a neutral location. We are inviting all brethren from various different
grace groups and independents that hold positions from Acts 2 to Acts
28. Having a neutral location would make some people more comfortable
about the event.
For this year’s conference, after the conference is finished
we already have a group trip planned to go into the Disney parks for
good Christian fun and fellowship.
Come join us for the conference. We have a great line-up of preachers
to speak, plus some very interesting topics, plus you get to ask those
really tough questions that you always wanted an answer to.
And if you desire to do so, stay for a few days with us after the
conference and just have some good old fashioned fun and fellowship
with your Christian brethren as we tour the Disney parks. Hey, everybody
deserves a break every once in a while.
If you decide to stay for fellowship after the conference, check out
